Active Wellness at The Buck InstituteActive's leadership team recently toured The Buck Institute - an independent biomedical research campus that studies aging and age-related disease. The Buck's mission is to lengthen our healthspan potential - to help people live better longer - which aligns with Team Active's mission to inspire people to live healthy, active lives. Active's co-founder Jill Kinney was recently named The Buck's new Chairman for 2020; Jill is passionate to support The Buck's research initiatives and its impact on improving healthspan.

The campus, designed by renowned architect I M Pei, is a unique research facility in many ways including its collaborative approach to research. While most science labs are highly controlled with experiments running behind closed doors, The Buck's open-floor concept encourages cross pollination of ideas and insights. Experiments with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer, and heart disease are gaining insights from collaboration and researchers have a strong hypothesis that when they find how to combat the age-related link, age-related diseases will be avoided.

"Science is showing that while chronological aging is inevitable, biological aging is malleable. There's a part of it that you can fight, and we are getting closer and closer to winning that fight," said The Buck's President & CEO Eric Verdin.

Active Wellness is eager to continue its partnership and support of The Buck Institute!
