In-person fitness industry events are back and it all started late last month at Sibec 2021. Active Wellness Director of Procurement Justin Honas was able to attend the two-day event at the Arizona Grand Resort & Spa in Phoenix, where club owners and operators in the health, fitness, and wellness industry came together to meet with national and international supplier companies.

 Attendees and vendors “were able to remove their masks at the outdoor reception and enjoy drinks, food and networking with other fitness professionals for the first time in more than a year due to the cancellation and postponement for the past year of in-person events caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to Club Industry’s In-Person Fitness Events Are Back article here.

As Director of Sibec Robert Shannon said when he spoke to everyone, both in attendance and in spirit, “We’re back!” 

Honas said, “Everyone was positive. I missed gathering in person with my fitness family more than I ever realized.” A few of his key takeaways from the show included: 

• Innovation is still and has been, happening throughout the pandemic
• Sharing of information across the industry has never been more free-flowing than it is today
• We are poised, as an industry, to come back stronger than ever
